Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and sinister influences growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
The latest chapter concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the premier party of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to undertake their own adventure, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
According to the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.
Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might look out of place, but the developments of episode 3 demonstrate why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the team understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi Fang—whose death started the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then settled his liabilities and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, north of the urban center, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have no other options.
- But, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the team enter locations they usually can’t.
- Additionally, Teor pledged a unbreakable promise to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- Thimble and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are partnered with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This means them few options but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Questers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, released on the upcoming Thursday.
