🔗 Share this article The Mighty Nein's Opening Sequence Chose the Wrong Critical Role Track The Mighty Nein, the most recent animated series by the beloved role-playing group, unveiled an exciting opening credits. It features our favorite cast of misfits, outcasts, and criminals fighting hard and making their mark, while teasing at several agonizing personal histories for characters such as Liam O'Brien's mage Caleb, and another actor's warlock orc, the character Fjord. Overall, the intro looks stunning. But I couldn't help feeling that something was missing in the music selection. This sequence employs "Welcome to Wildemount", a truly stellar composition created by artist Colm McGuinness. It's a track from the soundtrack album of the same name, the second one released by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a great sentimental option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will love its presence. Personally, The series' intro fails to capture the hype and energy that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by musician Jason Charles Miller, was an instant classic for me when it was first revealed in 2015, and it improved further when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the melody for the animated Campaign 2 opening in 2018. Including singing from one actress, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as the writer, the song was catchy and enjoyable. At the time, I hadn't seen the second campaign at that point, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. This track that knows how to get you pumped before you start an episode of adventurous fun. The Mighty Nein's opening with "the new song" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's an impressive piece of music, but from what I know of this party, I feel that its tone is a little off. Naturally, Critical Role has already said that the series will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its intro appears as one of them. The Mighty Nein will be released on Prime Video from November 19. If you can't wait until then, or want a head start to get to know the characters of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the actual play are available on Spotify and YouTube.
